Tombraider Mobile Slot Review
One of the more recent additions to the Microgaming mobile casino games range available at both [Ladbrokes Mobile Casino] and Wild Jack Mobile Casino is a port of the excellent, and popular, Tombraider slot. The slot was first launched in late 2005 onto the PC download casino software at the above casinos, followed soon after by integration into the Flash no-download casino and quickly became very popular.
The slot itself is a 5-reel, 15-line “bonus” slot with two types of bonus round. The first is a “pick ‘em” style bonus where the player is required to pick between 3 and 5 “idols” to reveal prizes. The number of picks is determined by the number of idol symbols lined up left-to-right on any one of the 15 paylines. The second feature is a “free spins” feature which is triggered by 3 or more “scatter” symbols (Lara Croft) appearing anywhere in view across the 5 reels. This awards 10 free spins, each with a 4x multiplier on any win appearing during the free spins.
The mobile version of the game stays fairly true to the original PC version, the only difference being a cut-down graphic interface on the pick ‘em bonus round. Instead of an underwater cavern scene with the idols strategicaly placed, the mobile screen simply displays 15 idols lined up, from which the user picks 3-5 for the prizes.
The sounds on the mobile version have also been compromised slightly. One would assume the changes in sounds and graphics are to reduce the data download requirements for each spin.
Tombraider is probably the pick of the mobile games on offer, for slots fans at least, and it makes a lot of sense that this was the first major bonus slot to get ported over to the mobile casino. It is quite addictive - so be warned - and can produce some pretty hefty wins on a good day. The mobile game menu allows the player to change the number of lines should 15 prove too much, and the bet size allowing bets from 15 pence per spin up to the giddy heights of £37.50. A little much for me :)
